We would also welcome someone keen to flex their asset management muscles, be it through experience or aspiration.

The Assets and Performance team leads the development of asset management plans for the Delivery function of the Environment Group, operating as a centre of excellence for infrastructure asset management, and supporting the work of other teams who are the asset owners delivering on asset maintenance.
Our new team is set to experience growth over the next few years, with new roles and career pathways emerging. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn and grow your career.
About the role:
As Engineering Officer, you will join a team pursuing best appropriate practice in asset management. This will include undertaking and validating asset inspections, developing maintenance manuals, implementing consistent processes, and supporting Operations Delivery teams with work planning. You will provide engineering support to investigations, the operation and maintenance of our assets, and the construction of infrastructure, specifically providing support to operational staff on assigned projects. You will assist with the utilisation and implementation of Ngatahi (TechnologyOne) - Greater Wellington's asset management information system.
Skills and experience required:
Excellent communication skills, with a wide range of people at all levels, with an empathy towards end user needs.
Commitment to best appropriate practice in infrastructure asset management, with some experience in asset management and associated procedures, processes and reporting.
Experience with the development of operational plans, maintenance manuals, operating procedures, or similar.
Scoping and managing projects, preparing relevant documentation, and supervision of projects or elements of projects.
An ability to quickly learn asset management information systems and GIS applications.
An appropriate tertiary level qualification would be an advantage, or experience in a civil or river engineering background in the fields of construction and project supervision would be a bonus.
Able to build positive partnerships and collaborate effectively with others.
Capability in Te ao Maori in line with Greater Wellington's Maori Capability Framework, or a willingness to learn and develop.
Experience or general interest in working within a Local Government environment.
What we offer:
Work to suit your life and whanau with our flexible working policy.
We'll encourage you to grow and prosper with a range of learning and development opportunities, internal secondments and career progression.
Your wellbeing is our priority - we'll provide medical and trauma insurance, support through our employee assistance programme or Manawa Ora providers, generous annual and sick leave, along with Tangihanga leave and support.
We want you to have a sense of belonging, where you can reflect your personal and cultural identity in the way that you work.
Social clubs, staff networks and a friendly and inclusive culture.
Great working environments across our beautiful region.
