The Opportunity We are currently hiring an Engineering Manager to lead squads within the delivery engineering team in Auckland. As part of the customer delivery leadership team, reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will lead your team of technical experts to deliver the best to our customers. Customer Delivery is your passion and you are comfortable dealing directly with customers.
In this role you can expect to:
People leadership and management is a big part of this role. You strive to motivate and inspire your team.
Having 10-15 technical resources report directly into you means that you have the ability to coach, motivate, and lead a team to be the best they can be.
Performance is high, delivery is critical. You understand this and know how to bring your team along for the journey.
While this role has no hands-on component, your strong technical background allows you to challenge your team during technical discussions from Unit Testing to Intensive integration requirements.
You take a system-wide view in creating conditions and focus, allowing your cross-functional teams to flourish.
The teams you support build strong bonds, challenge each other to inspire excellence, and support one another through the rough patches.
What you need to be successful: To be successful in this role, you will have leadership experience and have ideally led a tribe of autonomous, multidisciplined, Customer Delivery teams spanning 10 to 15 people approximately. You are a leader and are comfortable managing software delivery, coaching teams, possess an agile mindset, and have a clear understanding of the business's bigger picture. You have a successful track record of leading two or more teams while maintaining a customer delivery focus and understand the complexities of managing large teams from establishing training plans to performance management and reviews.
You are able to drive change within the organization and foster a positive culture of continuous improvement and have a drive for continuous improvement. You ideally have experience with a software product company that values agile principles and practices that is customer-centric. Additionally, you have good planning and time management skills to meet our targets and delivery dates. Experience in the Energy/Utilities industry would be beneficial for this role.
