What you'd be doing in this role This role is focused on:
Leading a cross-functional team to evolve the frontend core libraries that underpin the frontend architecture and experience.Designing the technical and product roadmap in collaboration with team and product stakeholders.Working with engineering leadership and product foundations teams to design a technical vision for the team.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and ensure seamless integration of frontend libraries.Contributing directly to projects to design, develop, and maintain reusable frontend components and libraries using modern JavaScript frameworks and tools.Ensuring the team is happy, healthy, high-functioning, and impactful.Conducting regular 1:1s to provide technical direction, mentorship, and actionable feedback.Developing growth plans for engineers on the team.Setting priorities and supporting coachees with execution.Refining team processes for effective and sustainable delivery.You're probably a match if you have Experience collaborating with other engineering teams to build great solutions, ideally within a platform team.Strong understanding of first-party and third-party libraries in a large-scale organization.Experience advocating for goals in a compelling roadmap and driving significant technical changes.Experience developing rich web applications, ideally with Typescript/React/MobX.Demonstrated experience leading technical teams from a management or mentoring perspective.Extensive experience with frontend build tools (Webpack, Rollup, Babel).Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Enzyme, Cypress).Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques.Experience in developing and maintaining frontend libraries/frameworks.Practical knowledge of data structures and algorithms.About the team The Frontend Core Libraries team empowers Canva's 600+ frontend developers by maintaining and enhancing essential libraries like React and MobX. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of frontend development, providing robust and efficient solutions that enhance user experience.
