Damar Industries is a successful, privately owned New Zealand Company operating from a modern, purpose built factory. We manufacture and handle a diverse range of aerosol, chemical and paint products in 4 key channels – Retail, Road marking, Commercial and Franchising.We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering & Compliance Manager to join our team. Reporting to the COO, your responsibilities will include working within the compliance standards for a Major Hazard Facility and ensuring engineering is managed to these standards.You will have 5+ years management experience, with engineering experience within the manufacturing or chemical industries. Your core purpose will be to manage engineering projects and operational effectiveness of the plant's equipment, and is within budgeted cost structures, whilst obtaining reliability and longevity of plant and equipment in a compliance managed facility. You will also provide a high-level overview of all engineering requirements to eliminate the use of external contracting services. An excellent understanding of electrical and instrument diagrams and electrical safety regulations, along with excellent understanding and knowledge of H&S, HSNO and MHF legislation is also a requirement.Along with the above we are seeking applicants with the following skills and abilities:Bachelor of Engineering degree (mechanical);Qualified for a minimum of 5-10 years;Experience with dangerous goods engineering compliance;A good understanding of health, safety and compliance in a DG environment;Familiarity with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and automation disciplines;Familiarity with liquid and gas storage and distribution systems (piping, valves, containment);Leadership skills to motivate and guide individuals toward goal achievement;Preparation of scope of engineering projects;Strategic thinker who can develop and deliver creative and sustainable outcomes;Excellent communication skills to deal with customers and all levels of the organisation;Passionate about quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.This is an important role for the business, so we are looking for someone with the right attitude who shares our vision for success.
