Located in scenic South Canterbury which is rapidly becoming a lifestyle choice, our Clandeboye site is Fonterra's largest manufacturing site, with 11 plants processing, at peak up to 13 million litres of milk per day. We employ over 1,200 people across the value stream all bringing a diverse range of skills, expertise and thought to our operation.

Our horizon is really exciting as we navigate our decarbonisation journey and investment in the energy industry over the next 10-15 years as we transition away from carbon fuels. We have a rare opportunity to join our team as an Energy Centre Operator, working with and operating a range of assets including 6 x Coal - Fired Boilers, 5x Ammonia plants and Water Treatment bores. Not only this, there are also new asset projects on the horizon which will give you exposure to new and upcoming technologies. You'll play an active role within a team who are paving the way in the energy industry with innovative, sustainable solutions.
Reporting to our Supervising Operator, your key responsibilities include:
Operating our boilers to meet KPI targets and consent requirements
Ensuring utilities operate to optimum safety, efficiency and reliability at all times
Consistently looking after machine maintenance and participating in continuous improvement activities
Maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety.
This is a four on, four off (two days, two nights, four off) shift roster. Shift hours run from 6.45am – 7pm and 6.45pm - 7am.
About you| Mou
We are looking for an individual who is mechanically minded and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty!
You will be responsive, self-driven and have a positive attitude to your work. You will work autonomously in this role, so you'll need to be a confident problem solver and have strong planning and organisational skills.
With exposure to boiler operations and site utilities, you'll have hands-on experience in operating and maintaining plant services as well as the ability to help manage planned shut-down maintenance in your dedicated areas.
Other key attributes include:
National Certificate in Enchem Level 4 or equivalent (Marine Class 3) is preferred but not essential. We will also consider an Enchem Level 3 qualification or trade certification in another area.
The desire and motivation to complete training to gain Enchem Level 4 qualification.
Trade or industrial background and/or experience in water treatment plants, ammonia plants is advantageous.
Experience with automated computer control systems (HMI's)
Strong communication skills and ability to work unsupervised.
Strong problem-solving ability and continuous improvement skills.
Utilising your industrial experience and problem-solving skills you will fault find and repair breakdowns while navigating changing work priorities. Day to day you will also complete planned and preventative maintenance initiatives to ensure our site performs at its peak each day. Other areas of focus include instrumentation, process control and supporting automation.
