Located in Otautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa | New ZealandFull-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)Continuing (permanent) positionGenerous annual leave provisions and professional development opportunitiesAu Mahi | What You Will DoAs the University of Canterbury (UC) Energy and Carbon Manager, you are the lead professional within Facilities Management (FM) for the management of energy and carbon. You will be responsible for developing existing and introducing new policies and systems to further improve the energy and environmental performance of UC.Instrumental in delivering improvements to performance, particularly expenditure on energy and water, you will work progressively to reduce emissions in line with agreed targets and communicate emerging legislation requirements. You will seek out and investigate opportunities for UC to embrace aspects of sustainable development including energy efficiency and improvement in utilities performance.You will demonstrate at least five years' experience in a similar role within a large site/organisation as well as:Previous experience in the implementation of energy or water management initiativesAnalytical ability to manage large volumes of data through MS ExcelProficiency in the use of MS Office projectsEnthusiasm and commitment to the cause of energy/water consumption reduction and the principles of sustainabilityExperience in the establishment of an Energy management communications planThe use of SCADA systems and their associated data management requirementsTechnical competence in monitoring technologiesCompletion of Energy or Water Audit processesAn alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.You will hold:Chartered Electrical Engineer (CPEng)Tertiary Qualification - National Diploma (NZQA Level 5) or;NZCE level in Building related discipline e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, HEVAC, Building Construction, Energy Management, Controls.Specific training in Energy management at Diploma, graduate or postgraduate level is preferredUC comprises approximately 150 buildings across 87 hectares, covering a gross floor area of 223,000m².
