About the Role We are looking for an Emergency Medicine Physician to join the team at Health NZ Hawke's Bay Hospital to cover sabbatical leave from February to April 2025.
About the Team/Service/ Location Our Emergency Medicine Physicians have high clinical profiles within the department and are committed to the delivery of high-quality medical care. There are opportunities to be involved in hospital wide initiatives to improve emergency care and the patient experience. The Department offers the opportunity for a wide range of clinical interests and support for research.
We have ACEM accreditation for 24 months of training in Emergency Medicine. The department has a strong commitment to the teaching of both trainees and final year medical students from the University of Otago.
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is a 330-bed accredited facility providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region (a population of 162,000 people).
About You Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as an Emergency Medicine Physician. You will also need the following key attributes and skills:
Positive attitude with problem-solving focusExperience in supervision and teaching of junior medical staffCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
