Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Emergency Medicine Registrars
Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti has exciting opportunities for ED Registrars to join the team!
Gisborne is a relaxed city offering access to outstanding leisure pursuits and a caring, safe community. The city has superb outdoor facilities, golden beaches, a warm climate and a vibrant local economy based on wineries, agriculture and tourism. Gisborne is the first place in the world to see the sun, and also holds the title of New Zealand's surfing capital.
The Gisborne ED is home to a group of FACEM or vocationally registered emergency specialists working with urgent care doctors to treat a volume of about 25,000 patients per year, with a 25% admission rate. We have a substantial portion of high acuity medical patients, trauma, and paediatrics. Our experienced specialists have extensive teaching experience and provide solid support for our registrars, and there are ample procedural opportunities.
Gisborne Hospital, a 110 bed acute care hospital, serves a wide geographical area, creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic registrar. Providing healthcare to a population of 54,000, Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner.
