Te Pae Tiaki (TheWellington Hospital Emergency Department) provides emergency care to people inthe Greater Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti regions. Each year the Departmentsees approximately 65,000 patients. With 45 treatment cubicles including threeresuscitation bays, seven minor care and one eye. The majority have access tocardiac monitoring. Our medium hospital size brings friendliness to the workenvironment.Our hospital is a leader in training for EmergencyMedicine - accredited by ACEM for 36 months of metropolitan training, Paediatric Log-book and TS4 under the newtraining programme. Wellington trainees continue to excel at the primary andfellowship exams. We also have established training rotations to Paediatricsand ICU, both accredited for TS4, and also available to more junior trainees.Our Director of Emergency Medicine Ultrasoundprovides an active ultrasound training programme with weekly review of allscans and regular mentored scanning for all interested. Other areas of interestinclude: Toxicology, Simulation Training, Trauma and Disaster planning. Te PaeTiaki | Wellington ED has an established mentoring programme.The Hospital campus includes the Wellingtondivision of the Otago Clinical School of Medicine and the National PatientSimulator Training Centre, providing additional opportunities for teaching andresearch.Te Pae Tiaki | Wellington Hospital EmergencyDepartment offers:A great work environment, in a 45 bed departmentwith a broad Emergency case mix including paediatrics and trauma, with supportfrom all tertiary specialties;Emergency consultant cover on the floor 16+ hoursper day, and on call overnight. This means an Emergency Specialist is usuallyimmediately available to you for consultation/clinical review or questions;Supportive team based working practice (working inteams with small groups of doctors and nurses in zoned areas);A supportive training environment with dedicatedteaching time, dedicated ACEM Exam tutorials with an exceptional pass rate inPrimary and Fellowship, on the floor training, ample opportunity to doWork-based assessments (WBAs) and weekly simulation based critical scenarioteaching. The hospital serves a population of 145,000. We have aworld-renowned plastic and burns unit, regional rheumatology and public healthservices, and all our specialties have a strong focus on excellence andinnovation.The Hutt Hospital Emergency Department sees over 51,000patients per annum. We see a diverse caseload including acutely ill childrenand adults, burns, and mental health. Our 30 bed Department is modern andpurpose built - providing a pleasant physical environment for patient care,comprised of Resuscitation bays, Acute bays and Sub-acute treatment areas. Wehave strong and friendly links with inpatient units, including ICU, O&G,Paeds, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Dermatology and Orthopaedics.Our ED is staffed with 14 enthusiastic consultants and is accredited for 24months of Emergency Medicine Training with ACEM, as a designated urban districthospital as well as TS4 accreditation.
