Our team seeks to attract talented and motivated Registrars to join our friendly and inspiring multi-cultural team.
Our SMOs have expertise in Point of Care Ultrasound, Medical Education, Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Toxicology, Trauma, Pre-hospital care and The Health of Surfers!
We offer multiple weekly teaching sessions including:
Departmental CME with specific procedural teaching and focus on human factors
Part 1 and Part 2 teaching for trainees
"Tweenie" teaching for trainees between the Part 1 and Part 2 exams
On the floor "real time" USS teaching by our USS faculty
As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to gain supervised experience in the management of all types of acute presentations to ED in a friendly environment, whether you are, or are interested in becoming an ED trainee, or would just like to broaden your clinical exposure. Waikato is a level 1 Trauma Centre, so there is plenty of opportunity to develop your trauma experience with us, including procedures such as fracture management and suturing.
In addition, for advanced ED trainees we offer the ability to fulfil all ACEM TS4 training requirements.
Waikato is a great location in the North Island, in close proximity to world-class surf breaks, thrilling mountain bike parks and hiking tracks.
