Emergency Medicine Physician Consultant

This job is full time, permanent and based in a rural hospital in New Zealand's Lakes region, an area of immeasurable beauty offering a plethora of leisure activities and a relaxed lifestyle. The hospital is situated in a residential area of Taupo about 4km from the CBD. It has a 24/7 Emergency department, Inpatient Unit, Day Unit and Theatre, outpatient clinics by medical consultants and visiting specialists, Maternity Unit, Pharmacy, Clinical Records, Radiology, District Nursing and Clinical Nurse Specialists supported by an administration team.

Role Responsibilities: On average you will work 80 hours per fortnight, or four 10 hour shifts per weekYou will deliver clinical care to patients requiring emergency care in the emergency department You will see and advise promptly on patients referred for a specialist opinion; provide and/or supervise clinical care including the assessment, investigation, treatment and appropriate referral of patients who present to the ED Service.You will participate positively in team development and change managementYou will provides clinical supervision and teaching for House Officers and Registrars and provide education for Medical Officers, resident medical officers, and other staff as appropriate, both formally and informally. Qualified Medical Practitioner registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the vocational scope of Emergency Medicine FACEM or equivalent specialist qualification in emergency medicineprevious experience in a healthcare system comparable to that of New Zealand is advantageousNew Zealand Driver Licence or international driver's licence Remuneration and Employee Benefits
