Embedded Software Engineer

Focussing on 6-12m trailer or marina boats, we believe that propulsion should be done radically better, and we want to make marine electric transport the norm. The Naut team are driven by our pursuit of excellence and our commitment to leave clean air and water behind us as we go.The role:We are being super open with the level of expertise in this role – you could be a recent graduate through to a experienced leader or senior technical expert, you may be a software engineer or have these skills from a different engineering qualification combined with hands on experience.The sorts of skills we are looking for are:Embedded systems programming and debugging using MATLAB/Simulink, or C/C++Experience using a version control system (e.g. Git, SVN)Understanding of an electric vehicle hardware and software architectureExperience working with a CAN bus protocol (e.g. J1939 or NMEA2000)Lithium-ion battery experience in an automotive/marine environmentSkilled with battery management systems and Li-ion control strategiesCapable and competent with hands-on work; both electrical and mechanicalBoating experienceThere will be a mixture of structured planning, innovative thinking, desk top work, engaging with suppliers or sub-contractors, physical assembly and testing – both on the bench and out of the water.Naut has a diverse range of skills, backgrounds and people and believes that this inclusion results in better outcomes for our people and our product – please apply if you don't have all the skills but know you could make a difference.In return you can expect:A challenging but exciting environment, where fresh ideas are valued, and out-of-the-box thinking is encouraged.The ability to use a wide range of skills and learn new ones.Flexibility in the structure to find the best way to use your skills.Package to suit your experience.Invitation to an ESOP programme.Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
