Details of the offer

Meridian is the largest producer of renewable electricity in Aotearoa, and we strive to deliver clean energy for a fairer and healthier world. We only generate electricity from 100% renewable resources – wind, water, and sun, because we believe that's the best way forward for our planet and our communities. And, we're doing what we can to help Aotearoa reduce their carbon emissions and support others in our generation communities to do the same. We also retail electricity to more than 365,000 homes, businesses, and farms across New Zealand through our Meridian and Powershop brands.
Job Description Maintaining and servicing 29 wind turbines at our White Hill site, situated on a scenic section of forestry land in Southland, just southeast of Mossburn.
Each day, you'll carry out scheduled services and reactive maintenance on several of the turbines on site, which can generate up to 58 megawatts of electricity, enough to power about 22,000 average New Zealand homes! You will also be required to respond to reactive fault finding and monitoring outside of normal working hours on a rostered basis.
Your peers are a team of multi-disciplined Wind Maintenance Technicians who work hard to keep our turbines in great shape. With the support of the Team Lead, you will work safely to deliver on our maintenance plan consisting of electrical, hydraulic, and other key mechanical equipment.
In addition to your day-to-day activities, you will be open to development opportunities, growing your trade knowledge and experience as you progress through our competency framework. Safety and technical training will be provided to ensure you have all the tools necessary to succeed.
What you'll bring You'll be a registered Electrician (EWRB). Ideally, you'll have some electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience, with the ability to read and interpret schematic drawings. You'll use your IT and communication skills to track and report on tasks completed. Because of the nature of the work, you'll need to be physically fit and able to climb up to 70 metres and lift up to 25kg. You'll be comfortable working in confined spaces, and it goes without saying able to work at height! Prepared to get your hands dirty in support of mechanical tasks as part of any given day. Having experience in the wind industry, proven fault-finding experience, and an appetite and ability to work in all types of conditions will be an advantage. Why Meridian? At Meridian, we value all people. We embrace different ways of thinking, living, and working because we believe diversity benefits us all. It makes our capabilities even stronger. We encourage all our people to feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work, and we're proud to have a diverse and inclusive workplace. We work hard and value the importance of connection and fun, whether this be through daily quizzes, morning teas, birthday and cultural celebrations both in person and virtually!
Sustainability sits firmly in our DNA, both socially and environmentally. We proudly support KidsCan and the Kakapo Recovery and work side-by-side with our generation communities to empower and support projects where needed. There are many opportunities to volunteer to any of our partnerships throughout the year.
