StraitNZ is a growing organisation employing over 450+ employees group wide. StraitNZ Bluebridge Ltd operates New Zealand registered roll-on roll-off passenger and freight ferries on the Cook Strait route between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. StraitNZ Bluebridge is looking to employ a suitably experienced and qualified Electrical Officer to work aboard its vessels. The successful applicant must be eligible to live and work in New Zealand, hold the necessary STCW safety courses and have sea service experience, preferably on passenger ships. Duties shall include but not be restricted to: The regular inspection, maintenance and repair of the vessels electrical equipment and systems. Knowledge and familiarity of the vessels Electronic systems, including computerised systems, plant and machinery control, security systems, to provide informed advice as to operational issues or damage etc. Responsibilities as a ships officer in the event of an emergency, Fire Fighting, Life Saving etc. Maintenance of all electrical switchboards, switch gears and safety devices. Maintenance and testing of all alarm monitoring systems and control circuits for various machinery. Maintenance of all motors and associated starters. Maintain stocks of all electrical stores and spares, replenish stock as required in consultation with the Chief Engineer. Maintenance and repair of all electrical galley equipment, refrigeration and air conditioning plant. Maintenance of all lighting equipment, general, Fire alarm systems, passenger TV and sound systems, Navigational etc... Maintain good working relationships with electrical spares suppliers and service providers. Ability to communicate fluently in spoken and written English.
