Fiso Engineering & Aerospace is seeking a skilled, experienced, and highly motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our team.
The position involves working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary engineering team to create, develop, and implement innovative engineering solutions across a range of industries & sectors.
The Electrical Design Engineer will design, test, and implement electrical solutions for our R&D projects.
These include projects in civil development, aerospace, as well as cross-industry technology development, such as education, alternative energy, and healthcare.
We are looking for someone to play a leading role in the development and integration of complex systems at Fiso Engineering & Aerospace.
This role demands the ability to rapidly prototype, collaborate with the mechanical and software engineers to efficiently deliver solutions.Role & Responsibilities:A.
System Design & IntegrationDesign, develop, and integrate electrical/mechatronic systems for various engineering projects—both current and future—across different industries, including aerospace, civil/land development, and healthcare.Collaborate on the development of embedded systems, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware and software components.Develop control algorithms and integrate sensor systems to ensure precise automation and functionality.Lead the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept models for electrical/mechatronic solutions.Design and test power systems for new technology.Work closely with an interdisciplinary engineering team to provide electrical solutions that align with project goals and timelines.Support software and mechanical engineers in troubleshooting and implementing system requirements, ensuring successful hardware-software integration.Contribute to defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables from a systems perspective.B.
Problem Solving & InnovationIdentify and resolve system-level issues in engineering projects, providing minimum-viable solutions and iterative improvements.Advise management on necessary tools or technologies beyond the Business MS package or open-source software that could enhance system integration.Develop and refine electrical systems with the freedom to select methodologies, components, and control strategies.C.
Testing & ImplementationPerform system testing to validate functionality, reliability, and performance, ensuring robustness before deployment.Implement iterative improvements based on testing outcomes and stakeholder feedback, optimising system integration and performance.Assist in field testing and commissioning of systems as required.D.
Documentation & ReportingMaintain thorough documentation for system designs, control algorithms, technical specifications, and project reports.Communicate project progress, technical challenges, and insights to the team and senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment.Qualifications & Skills:At least a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.At least 3 years of experience in designing, testing, and implementing electrical power systems.Strong proficiency in PCB design, control systems, embedded systems, and LV/HV power systems.Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink).Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Very strong research skills, coupled with strong professional writing skills.Excellent communication and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Native proficiency in English.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.As part of a start-up and highly interdisciplinary team, you'll work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where adaptability and problem-solving are key.
