If you are an Industrial Electrician with good fault finding skills, are familiar with an RTU, and have some basic radio skills this could be for you! This role does work with SCADA systems too, but full training can be provided for this.
What does a typical day look like?
You will be working in these technical areas: industrial electrical, controls (RTU's & SCADA), radio (UHF & Digital), and Telemetry networks. This will be a mix of operations, maintenance, and project work supporting water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, and water pump stations.
Who might this job be for?
Perhaps you are an Industrial Electrician with a contractor and currently have a small amount of exposure to this sort of equipment on some jobs. This could attract you if you want to see a project from start to finish, have a full understanding of the electrical and controls assets, and ensure the whole network of assets runs well.
Work/Lifestyle Balance:
Working on different sites sometimes at odd hours as a contractor until it is finished could contrast to this role, which is a cruiser lifestyle, typically working between 7:30 am and 4 pm, leaving a job for the following day is less of an issue, and if you live close to this fixed place of work you could have only a short commute.
The Kapiti Coast does offer a relaxed lifestyle, with easy access to the beach, in reach of Wellington if you need your city fix, and there is a nicer climate here than Wellington, it's warmer with more sun AND less wind on the whole.
On-Call:
This is a 1 in 3 week rotation between the team members. Typically, you won't go to site much, only a handful of times a year. Most of it is just alarm administration, where you will get a text alert, log-in to the SCADA system, and then decide what action (if any is needed).
