Are you a teacher who is passionate about contributing to a sustainable future for Aotearoa New Zealand and looking for a flexible part-time contracting role? The Tread Lightly Charitable Trust (TLCT) was established in 2007 to inspire New Zealanders to live more sustainably. We are currently seeking a qualified teacher to join our team. This flexible contract role is to teach students how everyday lifestyle choices impact on the natural environment, using engaging interactive exhibits contained within the Tread Lightly Caravan (TLC).
The TLC is now an established part of the Tamaki Makaurau primary/intermediate school science curriculum and has, over the past 17 years, hosted approximately 80,000 students. The TLC educational activities cannot be replicated in the classroom and use hands-on activities to teach and inspire children across Auckland to change their lifestyle practices for better environmental outcomes.
We are looking for a flexible, team player to work 1-2 days per week during school terms. All training will be provided. To see our mahi in action, please watch our short 4 mins video.
Our ideal candidate is someone who: Has a teaching qualification and experience teaching students in Y0-8
Is an excellent, clear communicator
Is self-motivated, organised and professional
Has a passion for sustainability and sound knowledge of environmental issues
Has the ability to think on their feet and adapt programmes at short notice
Is available during term time during hours of 8am and 4pm
Is willing to travel across Auckland and has a current NZ drivers' licence
Remuneration is $50-55 per hour, and a mileage allowance is also paid; some lifting is required.
