The role/Te mahi This newly created role will focus on assisting teaching staff in enhancing teaching and learning, fostering professional development, supporting the Educational Network | Kokiri ki Tua, and collaborating on research aligned with the University priorities. As Educational Designer, you will report directly to the Head of Academic Teaching Development and play a crucial role in shaping the future of education at the University of Otago | Otakou Whakaihu Waka. You'll be comfortable working with teaching staff to enhance curriculum design, develop resources, and implement student-centred, research-informed strategies. Key responsibilities will include: Supporting effective methodology, assessment, evaluation, leadership, instructional design, resource development, and curriculum development for the improvement of teaching. Leading projects to support innovation and enhanced teaching within academic departments or programmes. A focus on integrating new technologies, diverse learning methods, and cultural perspectives, including te ao Maori and Pacific ways of learning. Designing tailored workshops, meeting the current needs and distinctive teaching profile of each academic division. Utilising Higher Education research and student data to enhance teaching and drive innovation. Your skills and experience/Ka pukeka me ka wheako To be successful in this role you will have: A developed understanding of education, in particular the tertiary teaching environment. Ability to bring projects together within a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and spoken communication. Ability to work with others in a culturally sensitive way. Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Understanding of research in the field of Higher Education. Further details/Puroko This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours) position, based in Dunedin. This is a Senior Teaching Fellow position with an appointment range of $98,640 to $128,305. We offer competitive salary, 5 weeks' annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and excellent professional development opportunities.
