Our education support officers work with a diverse range of kaiako (teachers) and akonga (learners) across Taranaki.This role covers a variety of environmental education subjects including but not limited to water, land, air, and climate. It specifically involves being the Enviroschools facilitator for Central and South Taranaki, guiding, motivating, and advising schools on their journey towards creating a sustainable school community. Enviroschools is a holistic and innovative kaupapa in its 21st year in Taranaki.This varied and interesting role will give you the opportunity to bring your passion for learning and education to play a pivotal role in a proven sustainability and environmental kaupapa.The role will support schools and early childhood centres across Central and South Taranaki. This is a permanent full-time position, based out of Stratford but with flexible working conditions.We like to set people up for success, so you'll be a leading applicant if you have:Studied in a relevant field, e.g., horticulture, sustainability, education, or environmental scienceKnowledge of permaculture and biodiversity/biosecurity is an advantageFamiliarity with, or willingness to learn about, school systems including the New Zealand Curriculum Y1–13Appreciation of Te Ao Maori and the contribution Maori perspectives and wisdoms bring to sustainabilityPassion to support an action-based environmental education programmeKeenness to support young people in planning, designing, and implementing sustainability projectsSelf-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider teamExcellent organisational, administration, and computer skillsHave a driver's licence, be able to pass police vetting, and have the legal rights to work in New ZealandHow to applyPlease apply via our recruitment portal (see vacancy link).
