Wildlands are seeking full-time permanent Ecological Restoration Field Team Members who will be based out of our Nixon Street, Auckland office.
The role is to undertake ecological restoration work which includes pest plant control, planting, and pest animal control.
It is essential that you have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, are physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather. The work involves the use of agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins (poisons), and traps on a regular basis. Regularly staying away up to a week at a time in shared, sometimes basic, accommodation is an expectation of the role. Full NZ drivers' licence (preferred)
Prior experience working in pest plant control, planting, and pest animal control is preferred but not essential.
On the job training and mentoring will be provided, including: Agrichemical handling (mixing and application)
Pest plant control methods
Plant identification
Planting
Handheld GPS and use of mobile phone-based apps (e.g. TrapNZ and ArcGIS Field Maps)
Use and maintenance of hand tools.
Additional formal training will be provided as appropriate, and may include: Growsafe
Controlled substance licence
Chainsaw
4WD
LUV/Quad bike.
