Te Whakatipuranga School for Young Parents is a leading Teen Parent Unit in Aotearoa. Underpinned by Te Whare Tapa Wha and tikanga Maori, we are committed to the development of innovative and engaging programs to improve student engagement, learning, and achievement.
We are excited to be seeking an experienced early childhood teacher. This position is a new initiative within our unique setting. The teacher will have overall responsibility for overseeing the hapu mama and Maternity group programs (babies up to six months old). There is also the expectation to teach ECE (learning material provided) and possibly a second subject area.
The successful applicant will:
Hold a NZ recognised ECE teaching qualification and registration with the New Zealand Teaching Council.
Demonstrate good knowledge of current ECE regulations, Te Whariki , and hold compliance in high regard.
Have excellent communication skills and the ability to confidently work alongside other agencies who support our rangatahi matua and pepi.
With experience in the ECE sector, further develop our current programmes.
Be open to visiting our rangatahi matua and their pepi in their homes.
Be genuinely committed to supporting the educational outcomes for Teen Parents.
Potential future responsibilities may be available depending on candidate skill and interest.
