Dry Goods Manager (Head of Dry Goods) - New World Oamaru
Do you have a variety of knowledge and experience in the supermarket retail environment? We are looking for a person who would like to progress their career to be a senior manager. The person would have a combination of knowledge and experience in supermarket operations, customer service, people management, and company compliance policies. This senior management position reports to the store manager to help form part of the senior leadership team.
The key responsibilities are:
Lead and guide the dry goods side of our business including the grocery, general merchandise, dairy, frozen, and liquor departments including full profit responsibility for them
Manage, plan and review the store wide maintenance programme to ensure the smooth running of operations
Help plan the stores strategy and then execute it on a day-to-day basis
The key skills and qualifications required are:
Demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, being able to get the best out of people
Be able to understand, manage, achieve and dissect financial results
Lead, coach and develop a large team, providing them an awesome place to work and grow
Have a high level of self-motivation, and thrive on achieving targets and goals
Personal attributes required are:
The ability to communicate successfully with a wide range of people including team members, Department Managers, Business Owners and external organisations
Excellent oral and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
Outstanding planning and organising skills - able to work with a minimum of supervision
Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
Team Player – who will support and collaborate effectively
Excellent time management with the ability to multitask and prioritise is essential
The days and hours of the position will be discussed with each individual short-listed applicant however there is a requirement to work one weekend day per week.
