The Far North District Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Drainage Technical Officer to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and improving our district's drainage systems, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.
Te Wero - The Challenge To ensure adherence to the Council's regulations regarding land drainage, wastewater management, and trade waste disposal within the district, it is essential to: Understand the Bylaws: Familiarise yourself with the specific requirements and guidelines outlined in the Council's Land Drainage, Wastewater, and Trade Waste Bylaws.
Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of your property and facilities to ensure compliance with the bylaws.
Proper Waste Disposal: Implement proper waste disposal methods for both domestic and trade waste.
Maintenance and Upgrades: Regularly maintain and upgrade your drainage and wastewater systems to meet current standards.
Training and Awareness: Educate employees, tenants, or residents about the importance of compliance with these bylaws.
Reporting and Documentation: Keep detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, and any incidents of non-compliance.
Seek Professional Advice: If unsure about any aspect of the bylaws, seek advice from professionals.
The ideal candidate will possess: Experience: Over 5 years as a registered plumber or drain layer, or equivalent experience.
Communication: Excellent oral and written skills, committed to outstanding customer service.
Collaboration: Ability to work proactively with diverse stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Clear communication skills to simplify complex issues.
Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects within set timeframes.
Community Focus: Dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for the community.

The salary for this position is Grade 13 within Council's salary structure (Band: $63,846 to $75,113 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
