About the Home We are a not-for-profit owned and operated business (the Trust was established in 1954). We have a beautiful, warm 93 bed care home (with a waiting list) with a mixture of care types. Our home is set in the 'winterless' Far North which is one of New Zealand's most desirable locations. It offers unspoiled white sand beaches, native bush, and spectacular outdoor living in a warm, sub-tropical climate. About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Diversional Therapist Team Leader to join our Lifestyle team on a full-time basis. (32 – 40 hours per week)  You will be responsible for leading a team and planning and facilitating purposeful recreational and leisure activities for our elders. This includes organising stimulating group and resident specific activities as well as resident events and outings. Our perfect candidate will: Be a qualified Diversional Therapist who has a passion for delivering an exciting, engaging, high-quality programme for our residents.  Have prior experience working in aged care. Be someone who finds any reason to celebrate! Make a big deal of birthdays, public holidays, special days, and ensure there is ALWAYS something enticing happening in every corner of the home.  Be highly creative, innovative, and excited about trying new things to delight and engage our elders.  Be able to demonstrate patience and compassion when dealing with elders with a range of different abilities.  Be proactive, motivating, and supportive – able to work in different ways to foster engagement, enthusiasm, and participation among residents.  People-person that enjoys interacting and motivating others, including those who have physical or mental limitations.  Be able to think outside the box when it comes to planning activities and outings for residents which ensures variety and engagement. Have a high standard of verbal and written communication skills. Be highly organised and computer literate with clear and concise documentation skills. Hold a full clean driver's licence and be comfortable driving resident transport vans as required. Have excellent time management skills, a high level of professionalism and be able to work independently as well as a crucial member of the existing Switzer Lifestyle team.
