THE POSITION
The District Sales Manager is a "player/coach" dynamic with a balance between supporting your territory as a Technical Sales Manager (TSM) and managing Technical Sales Managers (TSM), Remote Account Managers (RAM), and Sales Development Representatives (SDR). Parse offers the most scalable and flexible single cell sequencing solution on the market and researchers are looking for guidance on how to best leverage existing solutions to accelerate their biological discovery. As a District Sales Manager, you will be responsible for achieving sales objectives for our single cell sequencing products through the development of new business and management of current customer accounts. You will be expected to create and execute a sales strategy across academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical customers while working closely with Field Application Scientists and other Parse team members. Candidates should have strong technical sales skills, the ability to develop and manage customer relationships, and a drive to overachieve. Gaining a deep understanding of Parse's products and the market will be critical to success.
As a manager, you will hire, coach, and guide your team to meet and overachieve role-based sales targets. Your primary focus will be on team performance with an emphasis on driving revenue growth and stimulating new business. This role has the strong potential to expand into a full-time TSM Manager role as the sales team grows.
IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL
As the Manager:
Manage activities of the TSM, RAM, and SDR team members to meet and overachieve role-based sales targets
Maintain a high level of employee satisfaction and develop team members to their fullest potential
Provide technical and sales coaching as needed
Be a leader, motivate, coach, and advocate for your team
Partner with global Managers, Field Application Scientists, and Marketing to create a cross-functional team to exceed our customers' expectations
Actively drive process improvement
Partner with the VP of Sales, and global counterparts, to drive strategies for growth
Cross share successes with global counterparts
Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback on a regular basis
Work with each individual functional group to develop strategies and tactics to address role relevant goals
Establish procedures to monitor results to achieve goals
Maintain CRM records and KPI reports while providing weekly forecasts
As a District Sales Manager:
Generate and manage both high volume and large complex sales
Ensure customers are satisfied and making rapid experimental progress
Develop, maintain, and grow repeat business while maintaining strong relationships
Prospect effectively to generate an immediate, medium, and long-term sales pipelines to ensure consistent quota obtainment
Negotiate and close deals while minimizing discounting
Effectively communicate technical advantages to customers
Develop a quarterly and yearly business plan that incorporates both strategic and tactical activities
Prioritize and qualify inbound leads
Provide management with insight on competition, market trends, and customer feedback
Manage your sales funnel with a high degree of accuracy
Leverage expertise of Field Application Scientists to support customers and drive sales
Use CRM to manage and track deals
Continue to develop technical knowledge related to new, emerging, and related single cell research
Forecast projected sales in your territory
Display a high degree of professionalism both internally and externally
FOR THIS POSITION, WE LOOK FOR
Bachelors in biology/genomics or a related field. A Masters or PhD is a plus
Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant sales experience (preferably in either Next Generation Sequencing, genomics, or single cell analysis)
Minimum of 1 year managing and mentoring team members
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Ability to travel post COVID-19
PREFERRED, NOT REQUIRED
Experience performing single-cell RNA-seq assays in a laboratory setting
Experience in a molecular biology lab
Experience working with cell culture, tissue dissociation, cell sample preparation
