We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Hauraki Thames Coromandel District Nursing team in a casual position.
About the Role There are no set hours / days with this role.
The District Nurse Service provides services 7 days a week 0800- 1630hrs.
This role is not suitable for a new graduate nurse.
A full, unrestricted driver's licence is essential for this role About the Service The Hauraki Thames Coromandel community services is an urban / rural service.
District Nursing is a community nursing-based service with a combination of home visiting and clinic-based work.
Rural District Nursing provides a wide variety of care across the lifespan and offers a challenging, varied and complex nursing role within the community including long-term medical conditions, home based palliative end of life care and chronic wound management within a multi-disciplinary environment inclusive of primary health care providers.
An understanding of improving health outcomes is essential and an ability to work within a variety of home / social, community & cultural demographics.
You will work in other bases as directed.
A District Nurse is required to be multi-skilled with excellent assessment and communication skills.
We work alongside many other health providers within the Community setting and relationship building is an essential part of our service.
Familiarisation with and use of electronic devices is an essential part of this role.
About you Requirements for the role: Current New Zealand Registered Nurse annual practicing certificate.
(essential) A full & current class 1 NZ driver's licence with no restrictions.
(essential) Relevant experience for Rural District Nursing and a minimum of three years' experience.
Post graduate study is preferred but not essential.
Sensitivity to cultural aspects and the Treaty of Waitangi principles to practice.
Proven time management skills with an ability to prioritise & think critically.
A demonstrated ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team is vital for this role.
Manage personal & professional boundaries within a small rural community.
Ability to provide own transport to place of work.
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
