We're seeking a dedicated clinical leader in Public Health to provide expert guidance and strategic direction within the Public Health Agency and the wider Ministry of Health.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide public health clinical leadership and advice to the Deputy Director-General, Director-General of Health, and relevant Ministers, covering both public and population health.Offer strategic leadership for the National Public Health Service within Health New Zealand, working closely with the National Director and Chief Public Health Clinical Officer.Lead key programs within the Directorate to achieve the objectives of the government and Ministry.Work with technical experts across government and the health sector to drive public health objectives.Represent the Public Health Agency and Ministry at key forums, and represent New Zealand in international public health discussions.Minimum RequirementsEligibility for vocational registration in Public Health Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.Significant experience providing strategic health leadership, with recognition as a leader in Public Health.Experience in political environments and public-facing leadership roles.Strong leadership, management, and influencing skills.A good understanding of the New Zealand health system.Experience working as a Medical Officer of Health or in a similar role is preferred.Note: The Ministry will be closed over the Christmas period and the recruitment inbox will not be monitored during this time.
