Auckland Theatre Company (ATC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as Director of Production. As a key member of the artistic operations team, you will play a crucial role in bringing our theatrical productions to life, ensuring smooth and successful execution of all production elements from concept to curtain call.
This is a full-time position, based in Tamaki Makaurau, working between ATC's Dominion Road rehearsal studios and the ASB Waterfront Theatre, plus other sites from time to time.
You will be supported by a full-time Production Coordinator who is your direct report, plus a production and technical team of two full-time people at the ASB Waterfront Theatre.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management: Oversee and manage all aspects of the production process, from pre-production planning to post-production evaluation.
Budget Management: Develop and manage production budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet artistic and financial goals.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to secure necessary services, equipment and materials for productions.
Team Leadership: Lead and motivate production teams, including technical staff, designers, and crew, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment.
Timeline Management: Create and maintain production schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and adherence to deadlines.
Health & Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to ensure a secure and compliant working environment for all production activities.
Communication: Foster effective communication between various departments, designers, and crews, ensuring everyone is informed and aligned with production goals.


Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience as a Production Manager in a theatre or performing arts setting.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
Excellent budgeting and financial management capabilities.
Leadership and team management experience.
Knowledge of technical aspects of theatre production.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
