Director of Midwifery Canterbury & Westcoast – 6 Month Fixed TermExpressions of Interest are now open for the Director of MidwiferyCanterbury & Westcoast – 6 Month Fixed Term We are specificallylooking for someone who is either a Director of Midwifery or who aspires to beone and has been working towards this. The successful candidate will assumeresponsibility for providing professional leadership to the Midwifery andMaternity workforce in our District. As a key member of the Clinical LeadershipTeam, the Director of Midwiferywill work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing, the ChiefMedical Officer and the Director of Allied Health and Technical withinCanterbury and the West Coast.
The roleencompasses overseeing clinical governance, ensuring patient safety and qualityof care and providing support to all of our clinical units- Christchurch WomensHospital, Te Nikau Maternity, Rangiora, Oromairaki, Kurawaka: Waipapa andAshburton. There is also a working relationship with the commissioning team forthe coverage of Kaikoura, Chatham Islands and Buller Maternity. Your expertiseand guidance will be sought by our clinical leaders making this a position ofsignificant responsibility and influence.
The ideal candidatefor the Director of Midwifery Canterbury Westcoastposition will possess the following attributes:
Astrong understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti oWaitangi and equity as fundamental aspects of the health system.Significant seniormanagerial/clinical/operational leadership experience with the ability to thinkstrategically.Provenexperience in midwifery leadership anddriving transformation while upholding patient safety and maintaining highquality of care.Acommitment to embodying our organization's values and inspiring others to dothe same, fostering a collaborative approach to leadership throughout thehealth system.Activemember of the NZ College of Midwives.This is a 1FTE fora fixed term ending September 2024.
