About the Role:
As a result of some recent internal staff movement, a full-time, permanent position is available for a multi-skilled Diesel Technician to join the service team in our modern workshop facility in Hornby, Christchurch. This role reports to the Service Manager and will work closely with the Leading Hands to ensure that all repairs and maintenance jobs are completed to a high standard and customer expectations are met.
The Christchurch branch and workshop is operational from 7am - 6pm Monday to Friday and rostered Saturdays by appointment. The two shift patterns are 7am - 4.30pm and 8.30am - 6.00pm. Saturday work is scheduled from 7am - 12noon and this is on a rotating roster as is our call-out roster. Technicians are guaranteed 45 hours of work per week Monday to Friday and will be paid overtime for any hours worked over 45 Mon-Fri and for Saturday work.
This position is only suitable for NZ citizens or NZ residents. The company is not able to support applicants currently on an Accredited Employer Work Visa or anyone requiring a work visa.
The Diesel Technician will be responsible for:
Completing scheduled maintenance on customer vehicles
Diagnosing, repairing and overhauling a range of truck components such as engines, transmissions, air systems and chassis
Carrying out scheduled servicing and pre-COF checks across both our diverse range of premium brands and other OEM brands
Electrical fault finding systems, repairing and maintaining electrical repairs
Providing and communicating product assistance to a wide range of customers
Completing job card and warranty paperwork as per company guidelines
About You:
You will be a Trade Qualified Mechanic/Heavy Diesel Technician (equivalent to NZQA Level 4) with a strong background in maintaining, servicing and repairing diesel engines. Specific experience working on MAN trucks and buses and/or Western Star trucks or similar OEM brands will be viewed favourably. You will hold some or all Heavy Transport licences, but support will be given to obtain these for the right applicant.
