Hawkes Bay will be the predominant area of work for this role – however, you may also be required to work in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regions.
This will be discussed further with the successful applicant.We are looking for Diesel Mechanics with background knowledge and experience (but are not limited to) with the following:Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines and partsDismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components, and checking partsRepairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as neededPerforming scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulationsReassembling engines and parts after being repairedTesting and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performanceDiagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computersMay inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthinessMay respond to vehicle breakdown service callsIdeally, you will be or have:Minimum 3+ years' experienceTrade qualifications preferred however scope and length of mechanical experience may substitute for the formal qualificationYour own toolsOwn reliable transportAt least 2 work references100% commitment to Health & SafetyAble to pass a pre-employment drug testClass 1 preferred but not essentialIn return we offer competitive rates of pay, varied and challenging work, regular hours with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week, as well as long-term opportunities.Minimum pay range $28-$35 depending on experience
