Diesel Mechanic - Breakdown Technician Reference: 6683570
We're seeking a reliable and skilled Diesel Mechanic to be our dedicated on-road breakdown technician. If you enjoy a dynamic work environment and like the excitement of being out in the field rather than stuck in a workshop, this role could be for you!
Here's what your day could look like:
On-road mechanic callouts and breakdown assistance.
Diagnosing vehicle faults and problem-solving mechanical issues.
Servicing, repairs, and overall maintenance of our diverse fleet of vehicles.
Working with our electric buses and upskilling in our EV technology.
What are we looking for?
A minimum of 5 years' experience working on large vehicles as a qualified heavy diesel mechanic with proven diagnostic skills.
A Class 2 NZ drivers' licence.
Solid knowledge of our roads and the ability to navigate the busy streets of Wellington is essential.
A good eye for detail, an eagerness to get the job done right, and a passion for the trade.
What do we offer?
Competitive hourly rates - from $35 per hour plus a tool allowance.
Monday to Friday hours with on-call as part of a rotating shift roster.
Growth and training opportunities particularly in EV technology.
Supportive and experienced team.
Plenty of variety in your day to keep your skillset growing.
This role could be based out of our Grenada or Rongotai workshops.
Our fleet is diverse, and you will work on most makes and models. The size of our fleet offers our mechanics the opportunity to continuously grow their automotive skillset and develop transferable skills to further their industry careers. We also have workshops throughout NZ and can offer growth and development opportunities!
We will be reviewing applicants as they apply. Please note that Tranzit requires a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test, and you must be a NZ citizen or permanent resident to apply for this role.
