We're looking for a Development & Test Technician with a drive for excellence and a desire to work on challenging, innovative projects. In this role, you will be involved with mechanical, structural, and electro-mechanical systems.
We're looking for someone who:
Understands the goals of a project and applies their skills to achieve the required outcome.
Is comfortable both 'working to drawing' and developing a specification of what they need to build or test.
Contributes early to the development process and proactively engages with others to create manufacturable designs and practical testing programmes.
Is comfortable taking on tasks outside their current skill base and proactively develops new skills as needed.
Can lead testing and prototyping projects.
Helps build our business capabilities.
Skills we are looking for:
Traditional and advanced manufacturing techniques including manual mill and lathe, welding, plasma cutting, and CNC.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks, CREO, Fusion360 or similar) and CNC programming, setup and operation, particularly for vertical machining centres and lathes.
Ability to work across a range of accuracies when machining and fabricating, from heavy construction to precision engineering.
Ability to set up and operate electronic controllers, dataloggers, instrumentation, and sensors.
Applying critical thinking and quality focus to your work.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Applicable trade or tertiary qualification.
A basic understanding of engineering and design principles.
Knowledge of engineering materials and componentry.
Experience working in experimental testing and verification test programmes.
Demonstrated leadership experience.
