While we do this work, local businesses, residents and local stakeholders rely on us to make sure that their neighbourhoods are still functioning and welcoming, that their needs are considered and that customer impacts are minimised.Our Development Response Advisor (DRA) approach prioritises the people most impacted by change. Our small DR (Development Response) team play a crucial role in supporting projects to deliver on best practice customer experience by acting as customer advocates and continually improving best practice. You will build relationships and influence across the wider council family, promoting consistent and collective efforts to reduce the negative impacts of construction. Resilience is key, as you will need to push boundaries and achieve results even in challenging circumstances.Your focus will be on helping the council family support the city through change. You will challenge and inform best practices, champion the needs of our customers and communities, and influence colleagues across the organisation to work collaboratively. A mixture of hands-on work and back-office practice improvement, the development response approaches you'll implement will help our city prepare for change, minimise disruption and ensure that newly developed public spaces fulfil their potential.Some Key Responsibilities:Work alongside project managers to implement development response best practice approaches to projects, understanding and managing local community needs and risks.Provide advice and written/digital tools to project teams and construction partners to meet customer needs and inform decision-making.Be a trusted source of advice for project teams, foster relationships to ensure best practices and operational standards are met.Undertake regular site audits and implement improvements to support the perception of vibrancy, safety, and attractiveness in the city centre and public spaces.Evaluate and document DR approaches to capture good practice and support continuous improvement.He korero mou: About youThis is not a traditional advisory role - we're looking for someone who can bring their strong customer service ethic, transferrable skills and critical thinking to add value to a wide variety of situations.We seek someone skilled in drawing out the best from others, meaning specific subject matter expertise is not necessary for success in this role. However, experience in areas such as construction and infrastructure, stakeholder management, placemaking, small business/retail/hospitality management, change management, training and/or customer experience would be advantageous.You will need:Relevant tertiary degree or trade qualification, or equivalent work experience5+ years' experience in an equivalent customer service role; experience of working in complaints, place operations/construction and/or public realm environments would be an advantageExperience in building trust and confidence and ability as a connector, collaborator, and facilitatorNga ahuatanga kei a matou: What we offerAuckland Council is one of the largest local authorities in the South Pacific providing essential services and facilities to more than 1.6 million people.
