TCBA is based in Tauranga, one of the most sought-after places to live in New Zealand.About the roleThe Tauranga City Basketball Association is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Officer to join our team. In this contract role, you will be responsible for driving our inclusion and communications initiatives, with the aim of increasing participation and engagement within our community. This is a crucial position that will help shape the future of basketball in the Central Bay of Plenty region.What you'll be doingDeveloping and implementing strategies to promote inclusion and diversity within our basketball programmesCreating and maintaining effective communication channels to engage with our members, stakeholders and the wider communityCoordinating and delivering coaching sessions to foster an inclusive and welcoming environmentCollaborating with local organisations and community groups to identify and address barriers to participationMonitoring and reporting on the success of inclusion and communication initiativesProviding input and support for the Association's overall strategic planning and developmentWhat we're looking forProven experience in a similar role, driving inclusion and communications within a sports or community organisationExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholdersStrong understanding of the principles of inclusion, diversity and equity, and a passion for making a positive impactCreativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions to complex challengesFamiliarity with the basketball industry and the local community in the Central Bay of Plenty regionRelevant qualifications in a related field, such as sports development, community engagement or communicationsWhat we offerAs part of the Tauranga City Basketball Association, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the sport in our region and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community.
