Operating from our offices in Whangarei and the Philippines, they provide expert professional structural engineering and detailing design services from our Coresteel, KiwiSpan, MODNframe, and Advanced Manufacturing businesses.Based at our Whangarei office, the role leads the Design Station team, ensuring a best practice, world-class design service. You will be responsible for individual job profitability and design delivery requirements, including project outcomes, budgets, and timeliness.The Key Accountabilities for the role are Leadership and Development, Operational Responsibilities, and Technical Advice.You will lead and oversee the talented team of Design Station professionals while also interacting with our manufacturing operators and our national KiwiSpan and Coresteel networks.About YouIdeally, you will have a Diploma in Architectural Technology or other relevant/applicable qualification(s), including in the areas of Business or Commerce.You will have at least five years of experience in a draughting or engineering role, and the same number of years of experience in a management role.You will have experience with 3D CAD programmes, an understanding of Portal Frame construction and traditional Frame & Truss structures (either Timber or Light Gauge Steel), and ideally, you will have experience engaging with builders and project owners.You will be an expert in NZ building practices and processes, have practical knowledge of onsite construction practices, knowledge of building methods and construction (specifically in steel construction), and knowledge of relevant legislation and processes.Alongside your knowledge and experience in the construction industry, you will have strong commercial acumen and be focused on financial outcomes. You will know how to build and manage a strong team of talented individuals.You are the type of person who doesn't settle for mediocrity. You have a great eye for detail.
