The Department has done significant work in understanding its current asset base and planning for a safer and more fit-for-purpose network, with Christchurch Men's Prison (CMP) identified as the next strategically important site that requires investment and redevelopment. Consequently, an exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced Design Project Manager to support the CMP Redevelopment Programme. This is an opportunity, at the beginning of a large complex programme, to help shape one of the main vertical asset construction programmes in the South Island. As the Design Project Manager for the CMP Redevelopment Programme, you'll oversee the delivery of design work and ensure alignment with project plans. A critical aspect of your role during the first phase of the programme will involve working with the Programme's Design and Technical Advisers to develop Concept Designs, which will form the foundation for the proposed PPP procurement. Additionally, you will be responsible for scoping and managing the design packages of retained scope projects. Your role involves collaborating with designers and contractors to review and implement designs, manage design activities, and ensure quality throughout the construction phase. You'll drive effective solutions, coordinate with key stakeholders, and keep the design aspects of the project on track to meet budget and timeline expectations. To be successful in this role you will bring: Proven experience in design roles within the infrastructure sector. Experience and involvement in reviewing technical design specifications and architectural drawings. Strong understanding of project management methodologies and techniques. Ability to operate strategically and interface with all management levels. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and negotiate with various stakeholders. The mid point of the salary range is $157,808 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $134,137 - $189,320 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
