We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team and contribute to the planning and estimation of distribution projects. If you have at least 5 years of experience in distribution and a strong understanding of design and estimation principles, we would like to hear from you.
The role :
Reporting to the Design Team Leader, you'll be providing exceptional customer service to our current and potential clients, face to face and through email and phone communication, you will be working in a fast-paced environment and:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for distribution projects based on design specifications and requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Review design drawings, technical documents, and project plans to identify materials, labour, and equipment requirements.
- Analyse project risks, constraints, and opportunities to provide cost-effective solutions.
- Utilize estimation software and tools to generate detailed project estimates and proposals.
- Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to distribution network design and estimation.

About you You will have at least 5 years experience in the electrical distribution industry and practical knowledge preferably with field experience in overhead and underground construction and design from 400 volts to 33000 volts. You'll also have:
- An electrical qualification diploma level 6 and above (preferred)
- A current NZ electrical practicing licence or in process of applying for one.
- Practical knowledge and experience in working with Transformers, Ring Main units, Overhead gas switches, reclosers and regulators
- Previous design and pricing experience preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of distribution networks, equipment, and materials.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Practical knowledge of engineering design standards, electricity legislation, and the ability to work within industry standards
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
