Job DescriptionThe Design Engineer will take requirements and design equipment, layout, and assembly drawings to fulfill the requirements of the project. They will ensure that assembly and detailed drawings are prepared and well implemented adhering to Jord ISO procedures and standards.Duties and Responsibilities:Design layout and detailed drawings, material list, using engineering 2D/3D drafting software.Develop assembly and detailed drawings based on inputs from discipline engineers throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure dimensional accuracy of drawings and documents used for manufacturing.Ensure checklists are used for checking drawings including all machine interfaces and sub-assemblies.Prepare technical purchase specifications and review technical offers from vendors.Conduct design reviews and optimize based on manufacturing methods, or functionality of an item or equipment by studying an existing product, prototype, and reverse engineering.Analyze details to determine the cause of a failure, to learn details of design, construction, and operation, and to determine corrective actions.Demonstrate ability to apply design codes and standards combined with good engineering practices.Ability to work cross-functionally with team members at all levels across multiple departments.Ability to network suppliers to identify optimized solutions and latest technologies in filtration equipment.Assist sales and other departments in providing drawings, sketches for operational, presentation, tender, proposal requirements and perform special tasks as assigned.Seek assistance from management and other design engineers in resolving complex or ambiguous issues.Adhere to timelines and budgeted hours.Adhere to all Jord company policies and IMS requirements.Skills and Experience:Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.At least 10 years' experience in the mechanical design of filtration equipment used in mineral or sugar industries including horizontal vacuum belt filter, drum filter, disc filter, filter press, conveyors, furnaces.Previous experience in the design of mechanical and machining components, drive arrangements, hydraulic systems, shaft and pulley design, and lifting mechanisms.Exposure to electrical and pneumatic control and monitoring systems, vessels, steel structure fabrication, and piping for filtration turnkey projects.Ability to understand and apply machining and general tolerances.Exposure to commissioning of equipment at site.Ability in operating 3D model software such as Inventor or AutoCAD.Awareness of computational analysis using the latest available tools for FEA (Ansys) is preferred.General understanding of Engineering, Fabrication Procedures, Sourcing, Procurement, Shipping, and QA/QC Methods.
