Dermatology at Timaru Hospital
The objective of this role is to provide specialist dermatology outpatient and consultation services for patients referred to South Canterbury's dermatology service and contribute to ongoing development of this service regionally.
Day to day the focus is on assessment and diagnosis of new patients using clinical skills and investigative procedures, along with planning and ordering of treatment. Review of existing conditions for follow up return patients is also a key part of the role.
As an experienced Dermatologist you will be able to work alongside and encourage positive working relationships with multidisciplinary teams and outpatients. There will be an element of tuition and training for staff and other professionals in the community where necessary.
You must have empathy for bi-culturalism and practices in a manner, which the patient determines, is culturally safe.
Health New Zealand|Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury is responsible for the delivery of health services throughout the South Canterbury region and Timaru Hospital (131 beds) serves a district population of approximately 50,000 based in a General Hospital Facility providing our local community with critical 24/7 services such as ED, ICU/CCU, General, Orthopaedic, & ENT Surgery, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Oncology & Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dermatology.

Minimum Requirements:
To be eligible for this position you will need prior experience and be eligible for vocational registration in NZ along with resident visa or similar.

If you are an overseas candidate the Medical Council of New Zealand requires primary source verification of your qualifications to be undertaken using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates' Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG's EPIC) service. Being certified through EPIC is compulsory and we therefore recommend that applicants have registered their professional credentials with EPIC at the time of applying for this vacancy.
