Wa Ora Montessori School is an area school (primary and high school 6–18yrs) with an adjoining private Montessori preschool (3–6yrs). Located in Lower Hutt, Wellington, we are close to bush walks, beaches, a great cultural scene and some of the world's best restaurants, cafes and coffee.Wa Ora is the only Montessori school in NZ that nurtures the child from 0 to 18 years. We are a community-based school with close connections to our whanau (families) and while our setting is urban, it also looks out onto beautiful bush clad hills.We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader for the position of deputy principal preschool, overseeing the early childhood sector of the school, including four classrooms, outdoor environment, playgroup, and before/after school care. You will become an important member of our innovative and friendly senior leadership team in a highly collaborative working environment and also take on the role of Board/council staff representative, attending meetings where necessary.It is a requirement that you have successfully completed an AMI Montessori Diploma (3–6), have prior experience overseeing/teaching in a Montessori environment, and possess current New Zealand teacher registration. Experience with conducting appraisals, self-reviews, mentoring, and coaching new and experienced teachers is also essential.You will have a great sense of humour, love and respect young children, and appreciate the potential inherent in the first plane of development. You will work well with parents, be capable of juggling several tasks at once, and have excellent attention to detail.This position is for a start date in term 1, end of January 2025.How to applyAn application form must be completed for your application to be processed.
