Deputy Director/Senior Assistant Director, Electronics Industry Cluster, Innovation & EnterpriseJob Description:Engage with companies to understand their businesses, product/service offerings & technology needs.Engage with Singapore's scientific units to understand their capabilities and relevance to companies."Match make" companies and researchers'/research units in A*STAR, to bring in new investments, products, and jobs to Singapore's economy.Promote technology commercialization and transfer from A*STAR Research Institutes to the industry.Work closely with industries to market the portfolio and research capabilities through licensing, collaboration and facilitate the technology transfer as needed.Provide inputs into operational plans for core sub-function in support of the organization's strategies.Independently translate technical facts, practices and policies into management terms to facilitate decision-making and occasionally convince others where strong interests exist to adopt new concepts and approaches.Analyze problems and modify existing processes across function/sub-function, expected to adapt ready solutions to improve overall efficiency and productivity.Deploy and position officers in roles that develop them and enhance team effectiveness.Build morale within the team and instill a purpose of unity, purpose and belonging.See possible future developments in the organization and take this into consideration when planning longer term goals and strategies.Demonstrate decisiveness and willingness to take calculated risks when necessary.Take ownership and responsibility for the team's actions and decisions.Requirements:Master's or PhD (preferred) in Electrical/Electronic/Materials/Engineering Science or equivalent.At least 10 years of industry experience, with 3-5 years in a business development leadership and/or technical strategic planning and execution role.Candidates with experience and knowledge in Semiconductor Fabrication, Equipment development and local enterprise development will have preference.Experience in project management in an R&D, Technology and/or Operations environment, interfacing with private and public sector agencies would be a big plus.Excellent oral and writing skills are a must."Can-do" attitude and pro-active with sound decision-making ability.Demonstrated ability to influence decision makers and stakeholders.Officers can expect a diverse and varied career, developing skills in areas such as business development, marketing, intellectual property, licensing, planning, strategy, project management, leadership and a strong understanding of how to apply technology to make an impact.Individuals who are keen to see technology make a difference in industry and society, and who can handle the diversity and complexity of the business, government and academic worlds, will find a good fit in this role.The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive.
