The Organisational Resilience & Safety (OR&S) function exists to make the Department an increasingly safe, resilient, effective and efficient organisation, by promoting and empowering continuous learning and simplifying our systems, to better enable our people to do what matters most. It is enabling us to better anticipate, monitor, and respond to critical operational risks, and better understand and learn from unexpected events. An important part of this function is its leadership in reducing complexity in our policies and procedures, so that they better reflect the realities of our work, are more accessible and empower people to use professional judgement within clear guiderails.
You will lead a team of tier-three Directors across:
Business Partnering focused on health, safety and wellbeing, and continuity planning and disruption response with local teams,
Integrated Systems, enabling better work through simplified, effective and user-friendly policy and practice development,
Organisational Resilience, Learning and Assurance, providing insights about how operational systems are performing, continuous learning and being prepared for expected and unexpected situations.
Complaints Resolution, ensuring stewardship of our complaints system, supporting us to fairly and effectively respond to and learn from complaints.
The OR&S group is geographically diverse and works closely with our people on the frontline.
The ideal candidates will bring experience in strategic leadership and driving performance outcomes in risk, organisational resilience and/or health, safety and wellbeing leadership roles. You will be a member of an executive that has focused their team building on the principles of Lencioni's five dysfunctions of team. You will be invited to bring a challenging curious and critical thinking mindset.
The successful applicant will be a facilitator of change, able to lead and inspire people within a high-risk 24/7 environment. They will bring knowledge of contemporary human-centred approaches to organisational resilience. This role can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, and will require frequent national travel.
