Our Database Team is at the heart of keeping Trade Me's core databases online, available, and high-performing so our Kiwi enjoy uninterrupted experiences. In this role, you'll secure our platform, design scalable solutions and clear roadblocks to empower our development teams. This is a pivotal position within our Cloud Platforms team, requiring strong communication skills, a proactive problem-solving mindset and a collaborative approach to working across teams.What You'll Do:Build and maintain a scalable Core Data Platform.Ensure the reliability and availability of our data platform.Follow best practices to guarantee data privacy and security.Plan and deliver platform changes inspired by DevOps practices.Join the on-call roster and respond to incidents involving the data platform.What We're Looking For:2 to 5 years of experience administering PostgreSQL or SQL Server.Ability to manage database infrastructure in a public cloud.Experience participating in an on-call roster.Solid knowledge of Windows Clustering and Windows Server O/S.Familiarity with Linux or Serverless apps (a bonus, but not required).Strong understanding of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.Experienced in scripting languages, like T-SQL, Powershell, Python, and Terraform.Knowledge of cloud data services and their use cases.Ability to make calm, informed decisions under pressure.Excellent communication skills, both in-person and via collaboration tools.Self-motivated and proactive in identifying ways to improve the platform.Collaborative and transparent approach to problem-solving.A team player with a passion for helping others succeed.Ready to Apply?If this sounds like your next career move, we'd love to hear from you.
