We have an opportunity for an experienced Data & Analytics Specialist to join our team in providing expert advice and assistance while spearheading business improvement activities within the Three Waters domain.
About the team: We are dedicated to identifying, delivering, and seamlessly implementing projects and improvement initiatives to the highest standards. Our focus encompasses the technical intricacies of asset management and system monitoring, ensuring alignment with organisational processes and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. By developing and leading a proficient technical team, we guarantee the delivery of essential business intelligence activities crucial for maintaining community service levels.
About the role: As a Data & Analytics Specialist, your main role involves leading technical initiatives to enhance data quality, streamline processes, and enable robust analytics. Reporting to the Manager Business Intelligence, you'll collaborate with stakeholders, mentor colleagues, and ensure effective use of Three Waters data. Key duties include implementing reporting solutions and dashboards, prioritizing tasks, providing expert advice on asset data, optimizing data workflows, monitoring data quality, identifying improvement opportunities, and offering mentorship and training.
About you: Ideally you will have a background in data science, geography , computer science, or a related field. You will have extensive experience in roles focused on data management, analytics, and technical leadership, particularly within the context of infrastructure or utilities management. Key requirements include: 
A degree in Data Science, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field at a level 7 or higher would provide the foundational knowledge required for this position. Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying, experience with GIS tools such as ArcPro or Esri for spatial analysis, familiarity with asset management systems like SAP, and expertise in data visualisation tools like Power BI. Strong competency in data maintenance, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Experience in implementing best practices for data ingestion and quality assurance processes. Ability to analyse complex datasets, extract actionable insights, and translate them into meaningful recommendations for decision-making. Demonstrated experience in managing projects from conception to implementation, including design, planning, staff supervision, and progress reporting. Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide technical direction, mentorship, and training to colleagues. Additional information: Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $101,882 to $113,202 per annum based on a 40 hour working week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
