Dairy Shed Supervisor – "A family affair"Job DescriptionOur family owned and run farm is set on 350 Ha of stunning flat countryside just 7k's from the township of Otautau and only 50 mins to Invercargill. As a brother and sister team we are the next generation to take over the day to day running of our farm. We milk our beautiful herd of 830 cows through a high tech 54 bale rotary and to ensure our girls are in optimum health we have also installed Allflex collars so we can monitor them closely.As much as we care for our cows we also care for our people. We treat our employees like members of the family, we provide lovely accommodation, and we often have BBQ's and pancake Sundays together.We are now seeking to fill the position of dairy shed supervisor. This role will see you being very hands on in the shed but also taking the lead when it comes to animal health, shed hygiene and maintenance, milking, milk quality, working closely with the farm manager, attend weekly meetings and overseeing our 2 farm assistants to ensure the smooth running of our shed. With Autumn and Spring calving our shed operates all year round.To be successful in this role you will need a minimum of 2 years' experience in NZ, possess excellent problem-solving skills, be willing to train our other staff but also a willingness to learn yourself. You must also have proven shed hygiene experience and have been involved with machinery maintenance but also be honest and reliable of course.In return we offer a very competitive salary of between $28-$30 per hour plus accommodation, this will be negotiated depending on experience, there is a lovely warm 3-bedroom house just 7K's down the road in Otautau which is a lovely community with plenty to do in the area on your days off.
