We are a proud supplier to Synlait, a leading New Zealand dairy company, known for producing premium dairy products. We are committed to the highest standards of animal welfare, farm management, and milk production. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Dairy Farm Manager to lead our operations, ensure animal health, manage our team, and drive the performance of our farm.

Position Overview:
The Dairy Farm Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our farm, ensuring that we maintain high production standards while prioritizing animal health and welfare. As a Synlait supplier, you will play a key role in maintaining the quality of our milk production and aligning with Synlait's rigorous standards. The role requires a hands-on approach, strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and proficiency in machinery operation, including tractor driving.

Key Responsibilities:

Animal Health & Welfare:
Ensure the health, well-being, and productivity of the herd through effective herd management, regular health checks, and working closely with veterinarians. Maintain strict adherence to Synlait's animal health and welfare guidelines.

Farm Operations & Milking Management:
Oversee daily milking routines, feeding programs, pasture management, and herd movements. Ensure the farm's operations are efficient, sustainable, and meet production targets.

Staff Leadership & Management:
Lead, train, and motivate a team of farm workers to ensure high standards of work, productivity, and safety. Foster a positive, collaborative work environment. Manage staff schedules, delegate tasks, and monitor performance.

Time Management & Scheduling:
Maintain effective timekeeping to ensure that all tasks and projects are completed on schedule. Prioritize tasks to meet daily, weekly, and seasonal goals efficiently.

Tractor Driving & Machinery Operation:
Operate tractors and other farm machinery for various tasks including feeding, pasture management, and land preparation. Perform routine maintenance on machinery and identify any necessary repairs.

Synlait Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Ensure that farm operations align with Synlait's strict compliance, quality, and sustainability standards. Maintain accurate records of herd health, milk production, and farm activities as required for reporting.

Problem Solving & Resilience:
Handle challenges that arise on the farm, whether they relate to animal health, machinery issues, or staff coordination. Remain resilient and calm under pressure, with the ability to make quick, effective decisions.

Key Requirements:

Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in dairy farming, with a strong understanding of animal health management, milking systems, and pasture care. Previous experience managing farm operations or working as a Dairy Farm Manager is preferred.

Animal Health Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of herd management, disease prevention, and veterinary care. Experience in working with Synlait or similar suppliers is an advantage.

Leadership & Staff Management:
Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Timekeeping & Organization:
Strong organizational skills with excellent timekeeping. Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

Machinery Skills:
Competence in driving and maintaining tractors and other farm machinery. Practical knowledge of farm equipment and basic repair skills are highly valued.

Resilience & Problem Solving:
Ability to stay calm under pressure and resolve issues quickly and efficiently. Flexibility to work in varying conditions and adapt to changes in daily operations.

Compliance Awareness:
Knowledge of Synlait's farming standards and commitment to sustainability, food safety, and quality. Ability to ensure compliance with industry regulations and farm protocols.
