We are looking for 3 Dairy Farm Assistants for our client in Ashburton. Training will be provided.
Tasks Include:
Assisting with maintaining the health and welfare of livestock, including patrolling, inspecting, and reporting on the condition of livestock.
Providing livestock with feed and water and implementing livestock feeding and welfare programs.
Carrying out livestock birthing and rearing of young livestock duties.
Establishing pastures and crops for livestock production.
Herding and driving livestock to access feed as well as for milking and other farming operations.
Washing and cleaning udders, using and sterilizing milking machines, and performing milking shed hygiene processes.
Undertaking general farming and maintenance activities such as erecting and repairing fences, maintaining and cleaning livestock housing, and maintaining other infrastructure.
Operating and maintaining general farm machinery, water supply, and irrigation systems.
Operating data collection and farm technology systems.
Assembling, preparing, and storing livestock feed.
Accommodation: Single accommodation is included in the Total Package Value. No pets are allowed and must be tidy; employers will conduct house inspections.
Avg Hrs / Wk: 45 hours. Minimum of 40 hours per week, maximum of 50 hours.
Rostered Time off: Single rotation - 4 days on / 2 days off.
Requirements:
3 years of relevant work experience.
A Level 4 Certificate in dairy training in NZ or overseas. Our client will schedule drug testing regularly to ensure their workplace is a safe environment.
A Bachelor's Degree in any course.
NZ Citizenship/NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa, 3 years minimum working experience in related fields, or Relevant Level 4 qualification or Bachelor's degree. Police & medical certificate required, recent drug test, Driver's license, no accident claims for the last 3 years, and must have the right attitude to perform the tasks required.
