We are on the hunt for a Customer Service/Sales Support superstar based in our Palmerston North office for a fixed term of 6 months to work on some exciting projects as the business grows and changes!
Someone who understands Industrial Packaging, has previously worked in the packaging industry (or similar) and has experience/knowledge of our industry would be preferable. This is a part time role, 20 - 30 hours per week, 9am to 2.30pm.

Spicers has been servicing people's paper needs in New Zealand for over 100 years but maintains a strong international identity with operations in Australia and Asia. Our diversification means we have a fantastic packaging division that we are looking to further grow.
The Industrial Packaging team are a great bunch; we all work together well and ensure the job gets done. This is a busy role with lots of moving parts.
The Role
In this role, there will be a mixture of project work and business as usual tasks (as and when required) and will include a basic review of systems and processes to ensure relevant documents are fit for purpose. You will be the first point of contact for our customer base and will offer support to our Service department. You will work closely with our Sales Support team to assist our wider sales team on any relevant tasks that arise.
Other role duties will include:
Maintaining the customer reorder forms (CRF) so they are current
Follow up of inside sales customers by phone and email
Ownership of consignment stock and invoicing stock consumed
Ownership of standing and forward orders
Tracking delivery of all orders
Tracking purchase order numbers and advising customers ETA's and providing updates
Working with Inventory Controller to advise of low stock, stock issues and requests
Credits as/when required
Management of parts stock status and availability
Maintenance of machinery databases with sales team
Weekly follow up of invoices
Upsell at every given opportunity
Coordinate dispatching and returns of hire/lease and sold machines
Actively work to remove redundant or slow-moving lines
Reporting, scheduling, managing preventative maintenance services for customer machinery, coordination of machinery installations, general services, and breakdowns with service technicians and customers
Assist with machinery projects
Assist Sales Support team with various duties i.e. Quoting/Proposals/Customer communications etc
Maintaining the integrity of the CRM
Responsible for answering inbound phone calls and making relevant outbound phone calls
Provide cover for your Customer Service colleagues when required
Regularly update SOP's and Idiosyncrasies
Complying with and pro-actively work safely according to company SHE policies and relevant legislation; in particular trade practices, environment, health & safety, equal employment and harassment
You will also work closely with our Sales, Purchasing and Customer Service teams both within Universal Packaging as well as our other business units, so great communication is a must!
About You
In order to be successful for this position, we are looking for a motivated individual with strong sales support and customer service experience. Someone that takes pride in what they do, has great attention to detail, thinks laterally, solves problems and is solution-focused. You will also have the following key qualities:
Customer Service/Sales Support experience in industrial packaging or related markets
Honesty and reliability
Microsoft Office skills – intermediate or above
Qlikview experience is desirable but not essential
ERP experience – Pronto desirable but not essential
Easy-going and get on well with others with the ability to communicate at all levels
Able to work independently
The ability to problem solve efficiently and in a timely manner
Maintain a high standard of Health & Safety
