Police is the government's largest front-line response agency with around 15,000 staff in large and small communities all over New Zealand and in liaison and policing development roles overseas.Our Custody Unit team is expanding, and we are seeking motivated individuals to work as Custody Officers. The role of a Custody Officer within NZ Police is pivotal, and Custody Officers are responsible for providing care for detainees whilst they are in our custody and during transit.You will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of the detainee, monitoring behavior and state providing appropriate care and ensuring professional standards are continuously met. This role is not for the faint-hearted and will require someone who is confident, open-minded with attention to detail, and willing to follow stringent safety procedures.Key Accountabilities:Strong communication skills both verbal and writtenResilience, perseverance with the ability to de-escalate situations in a calm and professional mannerStrong attention to detail.
